Community Giving

FNCB is founded in a deep commitment to the community. We’re actively involved in our communities, partnering with local nonprofits to meet specific needs. Through contributions and event sponsorships, FNCB strives to meaningfully impact the communities in which we live and work.

Our Giving

We focus on supporting organizations that improve educational and economic opportunities of low-and moderate-income individuals, youth initiatives and programs that enhance the cultural and economic development of our communities.

In 2012, FNCB contributed more than $350,000 to 295 organizations in Lackawanna, Luzerne, Wayne and Monroe counties.

Additionally, FNCB supports the United Way with an employee campaign and supplements these donations with corporate contributions. Pledges by employees and contributions total nearly $25,000 annually - all of which address human services needs in our communities.

Funding Guidelines

FNCB is actively involved in our communities, partnering with local nonprofits to meet specific needs. Through contributions and event sponsorships, FNCB strives to meaningfully impact the communities in which we live and work.

In order to have a meaningful community impact, a contribution policy has been established to assist in determining the organizations to be considered for support.

Eligibility

We will consider providing support to applicants that are tax-exempt and located in areas served by our 21 branches in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Applicants generally must be designated as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Organizations that actively partner with FNCB by banking with us and providing recognition of the bank's support will receive preferred consideration. Local organizations receive priority over national organizations.

We primarily consider donations/sponsorships for organizations that support:

  • Educational and economic opportunities of low-and moderate-income individuals and families.
  • Educational organizations
  • Community development
  • Youth organizations
  • Economic development
  • Health & human services
  • Cultural activities

Requests given preferential consideration are organizations that meet the following criteria:

  • Are current customers of FNCB
  • Create positive exposure for FNCB
  • Involve our associates
  • Improve quality of life in our community
  • Provide services targeted to low to moderate income individuals
  • Provide affordable housing for low to moderate income individuals
  • Support activities that promote economic development by financing small businesses or farms with gross annual revenues under $1 million
  • Revitalize or stabilize low or moderate income geographies, designated disaster areas or distressed underserved metropolitan areas

Exclusions

While we consider it our responsibility to support the communities where we are located through charitable contributions, we are unable to grant requests that do not align with our mission. These include, but are not limited to: political organizations, organizations which do not directly benefit the community, donations to individuals, donations for trips or tours, advertising for benefit purposes, telephone solicitation, events that have already taken place and organizations that discriminate.
